The Ultimate Wine Tour

This tour includes three small wineries based on your wine varietal preference. While winery tasting fees are not included in our rates, most wineries waive the fee if you purchase their wines. Costs include a 20% gratuity for your wine specialist. Many tastings are hosted by the winery owner or the winemaker, sometimes hosted at their home. Most wines from our tours have no retail distribution, and you can only purchase the wines directly from the winery. Jean will personally create an itinerary for you based on your preferences. If you have a specific winery you would like to visit, she will happily include them in your tour. If you know the wineries you would like to visit, we can book the appointments for you, taking into consideration the time duration of the tastings and travel time between wineries. We can discuss lunch and chef options based on what you are looking for and pricing (not included).

Paris Tasting Tour

In 1976 the French put their white Burgundies and red Bordeaux wines against California’s Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon wines in a competition that was a blind tasting with French judges. This was known as the “Judgement of Paris” and was held on May 24, 1976. To everyone’s surprise, especially the judges, the top wine in each category were from Napa.

The 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay, made by winemaker Miljenko (Mike) Grgich, took top honors in the white wine category. With this notoriety, in 1977 Mike partnered with Austin Hills of Hills Brothers Coffee and founded Grgich Hills Estate winery. His first vintage of his own Chardonnay in a competition beat 221 other Chardonnays from around the world, including France. The 1973 Cabernet Sauvignon from Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars was the red wine that out-scored the French Bordeaux’s. This wine was made by the founder and winemaker of Stag’s Leap Cellars, Warren Winiarski. The 1973 winning Cabernet was Stag’s Leap’s first vintage.

Your tour will start at Chateau Montelena, where you can see the original chateau built in 1886 and was filmed on location for the movie “Bottle Shock” that was about the Paris Tasting. This building is still in use today for the winery. Then you will visit Grgich Hills Estate winery, where they are still known for their Chardonnays. And last, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars to taste their Cabernet and other wines they now produce. Winery tasting fees not included, but most wineries wave the fee with the purchase of wines. We can discuss stopping at Oakville Grocery for lunch. (not included). Oakville Grocery has been in continuous operation at this location since 1881 and it is the oldest, continuously operated business in California, We can also arrange lunch at one of the wineries on the tour.

Sonoma Coast Excursion (2 Days)

This is a spectacular tour where we pick you up where you are staying and show you the beauty of the Pacific Ocean. On our way to the coast, we will visit the Russian River AVA and do several wine tastings at small, boutique wineries. Then we will continue on Hwy 1 along the beautiful Sonoma Coast, stopping along the way for photos of this incredible area on our way to Jenner.

We will arrive at the Rivers End Restaurant and Inn, a very small (5 cabin) hotel perched on a bluff overlooking the Russian River where it joins the Pacific Ocean. This resort placed on Yelps Top 100 Places to Stay in the United States, and only 8 are in California. Here you will spend the evening in your cabin where you can relax overlooking the Pacific Ocean, recharge from the stress of daily life and unplug, as there is no television, no Wi-Fi and no cell phone service. The restaurant, where you will have dinner, was awarded one of the “Top 5 romantic restaurants in the U.S.” Dining here is ideal for celebrating any special occasion. The eclectic menu is internationally influenced featuring King Salmon and Dungeness crab fresh off the boat on the Sonoma coast or Valley Ford lamb and Petaluma poultry. We will pick you up the next morning for a complete wine tasting day of three wineries and lunch. We will then return you to your hotel reservation or airline flight. This is a fantastic experience.

Subject to availability.
We suggest reservations for this excursion be made months in advance as the availability sells out.
Pricing is seasonal so please give us a call to discuss the details.
